So while I'm pleased that BSG has finally added an out gay couple to its diverse lineup. I'm horrified by the brief recap/advertisement in between segments: "It's been revealed! Helena Cain and Gina are lovers!
you didn't think that was a little bit funny? I admit I was offended at first, too, but you can't help but laugh when thinking about it in the "mmm mmm toasty" context :)
We rewound the DVR to rewatch it five or six times because . . . wait . . . WHAT DID THEY JUST SAY!?!?!? Oh! No, they didn't!! Oh! Oh my God(dess).
WOW.
It was ridiculously funny. Hilarious (and yet offensive) in a way that only any connection between a brilliant TV show and an ad campaign for Quiznos can be.
One the one hand, as a fan of television I can laugh at such a thing in a light-hearted way--enjoy the absurdity of it even. But on the other, as someone who also tries to think about entertainment in a deeper way--underscoring the long-overdue introduction of a non-traditional relationship with a QUIZNOS commercial necessitated a snarky pseudo-intellectual comment.
