Over 65 Years Later and Still No Wonder Woman Movie
On the heels of this alleged statement from Warner Bros president of production Jeff Robinov:
comes this disappointing news:
"We are no longer doing movies with women in the lead".
comes this disappointing news:
Joel Silver, who was producing the now-stalled Wonder Woman movie, told reporters that the project has been placed on the back burner in light of another impending superhero film. "They're going to make the Justice League movie, and we're kind of pausing on Wonder Woman now," Silver said in a news conference while promoting Fred Claus. "Let them go ahead and do that picture [first]."

What a shame. How could Warners miss the boat on this?
My only hope is that whomever is cast as Wonder Woman in the Justice League movie
1. is worthy of portraying her*;
2. gets a script that shows the character in a positive, assertive light, not as an adjunct to Batman and Superman; and
3. portrays her so vividly that Warners will have no choice but to make a solo WW film.
Keep your fingers crossed.
*If Lucy Lawless were about 10 years younger, she'd make a great WW -- tall, imposing, likable. Of course, Lucy might understandably complain about being typecast as an action heroine following Xena, and for that I wouldn't blame her (she has a great comedic sense that hasn't been fully exploited). And had it not been for Xena, Lucy might still be a relatively obscure New Zealand actress instead of a global star.
Alas, this incarnation will likely be a peripheral character with at least one token "empowerment" scene--which is of course what happened to Ororo Munroe in the X-Men films.
Did you happen to see Lucy Lawless' recent appearance on "Curb Your Enthusiasm?" Hilarious.
